Eastern Türkiye is the home of beautiful volcanoes. Let’s explore Mount Nemrut Caldera (2935m), one of the youngest volcanoes in this region, Mount Süphan (4058m), the second highest volcano in Türkiye, and the majestic Mount Ararat (5137m), the holy mountain of Noah’s Ask and the highest volcano in Türkiye.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Airport to Mount Nemrut
– Meet our guide at Van Airport (depending on your time of arrival)
– Have some rest and some refreshment. Transfer to Mount Nemrut
– Together we set up our tents and mattresses. Free time on the afternoon
– Have dinner and short briefing for tomorrow
– Overnight in Tent (Nemrut Campsite)
Day 2: Hike to Mount Nemrut and Transfer to Mount Süphan
– After breakfast, we start our hike to the crater of Mount Nemrut which is one of the youngest volcanoes in this region,
– At the summit you will see the beautiful view of the Nemrut Caldera, situated at the western part of Lake Van
– Descend to the campsite, pack our tents and luggages
– Transfer to Mount Süphan campsite, together we set up our tents and mattresses
– Have early dinner and short briefing for tomorrow’s summit push
– Overnight in Tent (Süphan Campsite)
Day 3: Ascent to Mount Süphan
– Have early breakfast, we take packed lunch and start our Summit Push
– At the summit of Mount Süphan 4058m, we will enjoy the stunning view of Lake Van and the scenic mountain range, take pictures 30-40minutes, and refill our energy
– Descend slowly to the campsite
– Have dinner and celebrate our success // 10PM lights out
– Overnight in Tent (Süphan Campsite)
Day 4: Transfer to Doğubayazıt
– After breakfast, we pack our tents and luggages and transfer to Doğubayazıt by a minibus
– Check in at our hotel and refresh ourselves
– Have lunch in the city and we will do some short sightseeing
– Visit 17th century Ishak Pasa Palace. Rest and free time on the afternoon
– Have dinner in a local restaurant. Our guide will give a program briefing and do a final equipment checkup
– Overnight in Hotel (Doğubayazıt)
Day 5: Ascent to Mount Ararat Camp 1
– After breakfast, transfer by minibus to Cevirme Village at 2200m elevation.
– Transfer all baggages to Camp 1 by mules
– Begin our ascent from Cevirme village (2200m) to Camp 1 (3200m)
– Food, drinks and refreshment will be ready for us at Camp 1
– Together we set up our tents and mattresses. Free time on the afternoon
– Have dinner and short briefing for tomorrow // 10PM lights out
– Overnight in Tent (Ararat Camp 1)
Day 6: Ascent to Mount Ararat Camp 2
– Before breakfast, pack your baggages and tents ready for transferring to Camp 2 by mules
– After breakfast, begin our ascent to Camp 2 (4200m)
– Before dinner, our guide will check your equipments for the summit push (e.g. crampons, shoes, trekking poles, headlamps)
– Have early dinner around 5PM and sleep early
– Overnight in Tent (Ararat Camp 2)
Day 7: Summit Push and back to Camp 1
– Have early breakfast around 1-2AM, take our packed lunch
– We will ascend through rocky terrains for 5-6 hrs until reaching the crampon point which is around 200m before the summit.
– At the summit of Ararat 5137m, we will be mesmerized with the view beyond Türkiye, Iran, and Armenia borders.
– After summit, we descend to Camp 2 for some rest (1-2hrs) and refill our energy
– Pack our tents and baggages and they will be transferred to Camp 1 by mules
– Descend to Camp 1 (2 hrs)
– Have dinner and celebrate our success // 10PM lights out
– Overnight in Tent (Ararat Camp 1)
Day 8: Transfer to Doğubayazıt
– After breakfast, we descend to Cevirme village (2-3 hrs) and transfer to Doğubayazıt by a minibus
– Check in and refresh ourselves at the hotel in Doğubayazıt.
– Visit the footprint of Noah’s Ark site. Rest and free time on the afternoon
– Celebration dinner at a local restaurant.
– Overnight in Hotel (Doğubayazıt)
Day 9: Transfer to Airport
– After breakfast, transfer to Van airport
– Say goodbye to our guide and bring wonderful memories home
- All transportations from/to Van airport and back from Mount Ararat, Mount Nemrut, Mount Süphan, and cultural sites
- Mule services for baggages and other equipments on the mountains
- 2 nights with breakfast in a hotel in Doğubayazıt (twin-sharing room)
