Mount Kazbek is one of the most climbed mountains on the Greater Caucasus range, a stunning beauty of the dormant volcano rises 5054m above the sea level and located between the borders of Georgia and Russia. Climbing Mount Kazbek requires less technical difficulty than other five thousanders peak but still offer a magnificent view of the Great Caucasus mountains. Best time to climb Mount Kazbek is between June and September
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Tbilisi Airport
– Meet our guide at Tbilisi Airport (Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, TBS) depending on your time of arrival
– Transfer to our hotel in Tbilisi Center, rest and get some refreshment
– On the evening, our guide will give a program briefing and do a final equipment checkup
– Overnight in Hotel (Tbilisi)
Day 2: Transfer to Stephantsminda
– After breakfast, 10 AM, transfer by minibus to Stephantsminda (as known as Kazbegi) which will take around 3 hrs on Georgian Military Highway, passing through the Caucasus mountains
– Free time on the afternoon
– Overnight in Guesthouse (Stephantsminda)
Day 3: Ascent to Mount Kazbek Base Camp
– After breakfast, 8 AM, transfer to Gergeti Holy trinity Church by a minibus (20 minutes)
– Start ascending to Mount Kazbek Base Camp (as known as Betlemi) at 3650m (4-6 hrs hiking)
– Overnight in Tent (Betlemi)
Day 4: Acclimatization
– To help your body adapt properly to the altitude, after breakfast, we will take a packed lunch and hike to 4200m
– We will train and practice necessary mountaineering skills such as, rope work, ice axes arrest, crampons walk, etc.
– Overnight in Tent (Betlemi)
Day 5: Summit Push and back to Base Camp
– Have early breakfast and start at 2AM, we will rope up together above 3900m due to glacier terrains and crevasses.
– We will hike to the Kazbek plateau at 4500m around 4 hrs.
– Continue our ascent to the saddle (4900m, 30 degree) and reach the summit at 40-45 degree using fixed ropes and ice axes
– At the summit of Kazbek 5054m, we will be stunning by the view of Caucasus mountains, taking pictures, refill our energy, and descend to Betlemi
– Total climbing time 10-12 hrs
– Overnight in Tent (Betlemi)
Day 6: Extra day in case of bad weather
– Overnight in Tent (Betlemi)
Day 7: Descent to Gergeti Church and transfer to Tbilisi
– After breakfast, pack your belongings and descend to Gergeti church (4 hrs).
– Make a short visit to the church and transfer to Tbilisi (3 hrs drive)
– On the way to Tbilisi, we will stop at Ananuri Fortress and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta
– Overnight in Hotel (Tbilisi)
Day 8: Transfer to Airport
– After breakfast, transfer to Tbilisi airport
– Say goodbye to our guide and bring wonderful memories home

- All transportations from Tbilisi to Stephantsminda and Gergeti Holy Trinity Church and back
- 2 nights with breakfast in a hotel in Tbilisi (twin-sharing room)
- 1 night in a guesthouse in Stephantsminda with breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- 4 nights in Tent at Betlemi hut with breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- English speaking professional mountain guide and assistant guide (depends on number of clients)
- Meals - full board except Day 1 and dinner on Day 7
